IGL Held a GNSS and InSAR Deformation Observation and Applied Technology Seminar

In order to more effectively apply modern geodetic surveying means of GNSS and InSAR to monitor earth’s surface deformation, by relying on NSFC-key project “focus parameter and rupture process real-time inversion research based on high-frequency GNSS seismology” taken charge of by Researcher Shan Xinjian of IGL, NSFC international (regional) cooperative research – key project “research of deformation characteristics and mechanism of Altun-Haiyuan Fault Zone on the northern border of Tibetan Plateau” and state  key laboratory projects, GNSS and InSAR Deformation Observation and Applied Technology Seminar was held in Beijing September 19~20, 2016. More than 30 scientific researchers from Wuhan University, China University of Petroleum (East China), GFZ, Peking University, Shandong University, CAS Institute of Software, National Earthquake Response Support Service, CEA Institute of Crustal Dynamics and Sichuan Earthquake Administration attended the meeting.

The meeting carried out discussion and consultation by centering on high-frequency GNSS real-time earthquake monitoring and fast determination of earthquake magnitude, InSAR observation and deformation field analysis, single-station real-time velocity measurement and coseismic displacement measurement methods of Big Dipper and GPS, strong vibration recording and fast displacement estimation and correction methods, fast acquisition of ground motion distribution and fast determination of the range of severely affected areas, and real-time inversion of adaptive algorithm and fingerprint matching algorithm during rupture of seismogenic faults. More than 10 experts including Professor Xu Guochang – a scholar of national “Thousand Talents Program” from Shandong University, Researcher Zhang Yong from Peking University and Professor Fang Rongxin from Wuhan University gave opinions and suggestions in such aspects as development of terminals, GNSS and InSAR processing algorithm, and inversion and demonstrative application of focus rupture process. The meeting is characterized by rich content, active atmosphere and in-depth issue discussion and laid a solid foundation for smooth execution of the project.
