Deputy Director-General Yin Chaomin inspected the work of earthquake prevention and disaster reduction in the Institute of Geology

On the morning of July 24, 2013, Yin Chaomin, the Deputy Director-General of CEA led a delegation of eight people from the Development and Finance Department and the Monitoring and Prediction Department and went to the Institute of Geology for inspection. The leaders of the Institute of Geology in Beijing and the leaders of research divisions and relevant management departments attended the activity.  

During the discussion, Director Zhang Peizhen reported the overall situation of the Institute of Geology in such aspects as technical innovation, monitoring and prediction, and reform of profit-oriented state-owned assets in the recent years, Secretary Ouyang Biao elaborated the measures taken for promoting reform of profit-oriented state-owned assets, the progress achieved and the problems encountered, and Deputy Director Ma Shengli reported the problems in the construction of the building for State Key Laboratory of Earthquake Dynamics. The leaders of the Monitoring and Prediction Department and the Development and Finance Department of the Institute of Geology actively discussed the work on how to strengthen the role of the Institute of Geology in monitoring and prediction and how to push on the reform of profit-oriented state-owned assets and the construction of the laboratory building.

Deputy Director Yin Chaomin fully affirmed the important role that the Institute of Geology has played in national earthquake prevention and disaster reduction in the past years, and particularly the significant results it achieved in team building, development of basic sciences, monitoring and prediction, and reform of profit-oriented state-owned assets in the recent two years. They put forth the following hopes on future work: Firstly, continue to play the role of the Institute of Geology as a “national team”, enhance the awareness of aim and overall situation, and professional dedication, and raise service ability, innovation ability and execution ability. Secondly, strengthen research of new technologies and new methods by making use of disciplinary advantages and make new breakthroughs in seismic research. Thirdly, raise the service ability for three work systems of CEA and provide good service for national economic development; fourthly, further strengthen talent cultivation and strive to develop excellent scientific research teams of priority research fields.
